Why Our Editions Are Limited
Share
We don’t believe in open runs. We don’t quietly restock figures. And we don’t manufacture rarity by repainting the same sculpt hundreds of times.
At Dastardly & Delightful, limited means limited — not temporarily unavailable. When an edition is closed, it stays closed. That’s not a marketing device. That’s a promise.
So why do we limit our figures?
Because scarcity — when it’s honest — creates value.
A limited edition isn’t just about quantity. It’s about trust. When you collect from us, you’re not buying into a product stream. You’re acquiring a physical object that’s been deliberately capped, carefully controlled, and never rushed.
Our editions are small because our standards are high. We spend real time selecting each figure. Refining surface. Controlling form. Adjusting finish. If we scaled that up to mass numbers, quality would slip — and we won’t allow that.
Limiting also protects the sculpt itself. We don't believe in devaluing the form by flooding the market with colour swaps or easy variants. If a design is worth making, it’s worth preserving. That means fewer releases. Fewer remixes. More focus.
What this means for collectors:
-
No surprise reissues
-
No post-launch colour swaps
-
No rising edition numbers
-
No artificial hype — just real scarcity backed by clear intent
We’d rather disappoint people by closing an edition early than betray the ones who bought in first.
That’s the tradeoff. That’s the ethic.
And that’s exactly why our collectors stay.
